A classical education is based on the ancient
pattern called the trivium. The trivium is made
up of three stages of learning development and
is greek in basis. It stresses that students learn

and its practical application in grades K-12 for
homeschooling families.
We have listed a few of the most well known philosophies within the homeschooling movement. All are excellent in their own right and most are biblically based--some more conservative than others. Child Directed Learning- Relaxed Schooling
Another term for this is Unschooling. John Holt,
author teacher and homeschool advocate is
considered to be the father of the "Unschooling"
movement. Unschooling or "Child Led Learning". is
based on the belief that children have a natural
desire to learn and when allowed to follow their
interests, will learn a wide variety of subjects more
thoroughly than if they had been force fed the
knowledge.
The supposition is that since children learn to walk
and talk with their parents as facilitators, so will they
learn to read, write, do math and explore science on
their own simply directed by their parents.
Unschoolers use the world as their classroom
generally foregoing text books (unless the child asks
for one) in favor of real life learning. See John Holt's
book "How Children Learn," which defines it best.

specific passage of Scripture. After each
person has a basic understanding of the
passage, the passage is explored through
linguistics, history, law, science, and medicine.
The core curriculum is found in the Wisdom
Booklets, the content of which is taken from
the Sermon on the Mount found in Matthew 5,
6, and 7.
