Zola's Introduction to Hebrew
By John Parsons
http://www.hebrew4christians.com/

We spent a good bit of time looking over this Curriculum and we are
very impressed with it.  There are three important things that make
this book stand out from some others we have used--The wonderful
references throughout about Yeshua, the little snippets of info,
which help to make what can become very tedious and boring a
little more interesting and what we especially like---There's spiritual
food in it.

We suggest the use of graph paper for practice sheets along with
the book, or purchase a practice workbook that is generic and
easily used with it.
EKS publishing offers excellent classroom
materials. (See link above right)

JJ Parson's has also developed a wonderful website that compliments
his book and provides an opportunity to hear the proper Hebrew
pronunciation.   He has expanded the site to include learning the
Siddur as well.  We highly recommend both the book and the
website.

..."Many times our 20th century culture can
influence definitions of words that were not
intended by the original author. The Bible
often refers to keeping and breaking God's
commands and covenant. To "keep" the
commands of God is usually understood as to
"obey" the commands, but this is not
completely true as the Hebrew word
"shamar" literally means to gaurd or protect.
The breaking of the commands is usually
understood as "disobeying" but the Hebrew
word "Parar" literally means to trample
underfoot).

A peoples language is very related to their
culture, without an understanding of the
Hebrew culture we cannot fully understand
their language. To cross this cultural bridge,
we need to understand the ancient Hebrew
culture, lifestyle and language. "
